作为Articulated多媒体艺术展览的特别活动，12月2日下午在伦敦OXO塔的Bargehouse举行了7组艺术家的接力演讲。

Bargehouse是泰晤士河南岸OXO塔下的4层老建筑，被Coin Street Community改建成展览与艺术活动的场所，建筑保留了最原始的红砖外墙，部分暴露着钢筋承重结构，没有任何装潢和修饰，给展览提供宽阔场地和独特气氛。

参与接力演讲的艺术家都是经常参与onedotzero (英国先锋影像展)的多媒体设计师，建筑师和策展人。演讲形式很有趣，采取叫做"pecha Kucha"的日本式演讲，也就是说为了内容紧凑，每个艺术家通过20张图片说明演讲内容，每张图片只有20秒钟，超时的话无论演讲结束与否都要让位给下一个。

Davide Quagila
互动设计师
bit-space，用数字制造新的空间体验和城市模型，创造虚拟的生态氛围bio-sphere，并模糊和改造传统的建筑标识。

Yunus Akseki, Imperial Leisure
和Davide在虚拟世界创造建筑空间相反，Imperial Leisure在真实的建筑环境创造虚拟体验。建筑的墙壁也许就是与虚拟世界联系的屏幕，轻而易举和远方好友握手聊天。

Nic Clear

Anna Doyle, onedotzero英国先锋影像展策展人之一
onedotzero养育了一大批有实验精神的影像革新人物，影像涉及领域包括图形设计，插画和动画，网络与互动，非传统电影，建筑和music video音乐影像，以每年7天的影像节狂欢形式成为实验影像创新者们的交流平台。 onedotzero也承担制作人和代理的任务，并偶尔举办视觉club的聚会活动。

Matthias Kispert, Keri Elmsley, D-fuse
D-fuse是我最熟悉的英国顶尖媒体艺术团体。Matthias是声音艺术家，Keri是制作人。两年来他们通过British Council的支持，连续在中国和英国多个城市进行Undercurrent项目的研究和创作，通过影像与声音的记录和再创造，用他们自己的方式体现上海，重庆，广州，利物浦，sundland等中英城市的迅速发展与变化。D-fuse和许多中国艺术家合作，包括八股歌，钟敏杰等。本人则是帮助D-fuse在中英之间沟通的联系者。注意放映屏幕中间走路的二位正是八股歌。

James Medoraft, UVA
UVA(United Visual Artists)是这几年迅速成长的多媒体艺术团体，从去年开始为V&A博物馆连续任命创作大型媒体 装置,主题都是关于"灯光与夜晚"。 去年是在V&A广场的变幻的LED灯光屏幕。今年的作品更上层楼，大型装置成本百万英镑：volume，一个互动的灯装置作品。当人群走到几十个灯柱中间，光会因为人群的位置和人发出的声音产生变化，非常震撼。上上个周末我在V&A排了40分钟的长队才能体验这个装置，好的作品值得等待。James是UVA的八个艺术家中最年轻的一位，刚刚毕业。和他聊了很久，UVA的八个人都来自不同背景，有平面设计师，建筑师，还有精通物理的技术人员。

Christos Hatjoullis, Shroom Studio
Shroom Studio也是两个星期前在V&A大出风头的多媒体小组。他们的现场影像已经不再是由人造作，而是由细菌操作！！通过显微镜中的细菌的活动变化，而激发图形和声音的变化，在三个巨大的屏幕上产生生物形态与数码影像的巧妙结合，让人惊愕。Shrrom Studio也制作多种商业动画和video作品。除了细菌影像，下面要做的深入挖掘自然肌理所带来的影像的极限，比如岩石，晶糖等，我非常期待。

PECHA KUCHA notes on a quick chat... Inner City under the microscope
pecha kucha at the Bargehouse, London. Thanks to Onedotzero / Lightsurgeons and Marcus of pecha kucha; an interesting experience and a second chance to distill the events of the previous week at the V&A. it's a challenge to order 20 slides but interesting in light of current ongoing projects. The audience turn-out was more than i had expected in informal surroundings - 170 which provided an unexpected vibrant atmosphere. the speakers were varied and very interesting for the most part. particularly interesting to me was Davide's presentation on the relationship of architectural form to natural forms in the environment. for my work, the distillation of many images to 20 presented a challenge that proved useful in terms of planning a video piece to accompany the ongoing work Evolution Synthetica. The challenge of talking over slides at such a fast pace without the usual recourse to stop on a particular slide forces brevity which can be useful to the rambling speaker.

There is so much to say about observing nature as a design fundamental that you could fill a whole series of pecha kucha events on the subject. The core of interest is the observation of natural forms which repeat themselves throughout nature and recurring patterns emerging at different scales.
This provides a valuable metahpor for interpreting the built environment as part of a set of natural processes which evolves in direct reflection of the processes underpinning ever larger structures. The micro-ecology contained within a single drop of water gives a tantalising look at behaviour that is also repeated by way of function or need on the larger scale. for example individual human commuters and single celled organisms in a crowded environment display a similar passivity that decreases towards disorder as the space becomes increasingly overcrowded.
This analogy of life was fortunately at the periphery of the events theme, which also encouraged me to reflect on the structures i had observed recently and their similarity to structures within the built environment of the city. the place that we would instinctively think of as the most synthetic, the least natural seems in some ways the most natural with abundant and easily grasped metaphors for environment and structures at a smaller scale evolved within nature.

pecha kucha - The event format will no doubtedly catch on and we should be seeing more chitchat type presentations. they keep it (the spaekers) fresh, are fair to everyone and allow a multitude of related topics to be discussed alongside. 'no time for questions' makes for good opportunities for post talk chats with participants at the bar! how long before the DVD and television series format options
